20 Percent Project

For my 20 percent project, I will be learning how to build bike jumps. I am inspired by  seeing people have jumps in their backyard and I wanted to have the same. I am going to be building bike jumps out of wood and also learn how to build them out of dirt. The reason I chose to do this is because I think that in the summer if I have bike jumps and I know how to build them it will be fun tho hit them with friends. Also I can teach my friends how to build them and we can have an entire jump line. I also have dirt in my side yard where I will build jumps and berms. Me and my friends already have about 10 jumps and some berms at a friend’s house. I am looking forward to learning about jumps and building one on my own.

Dinner with Legends

If I could have dinner with three people dead or alive I would choose LeBron James, Zeb Powell and Kobe Bryant.

The reason I would choose LeBron James is because I have watched lots of lakers games and he is a legend in my eyes. Also since I have seen him so much on tv and at games it would be surreal to meet him  and have a conversation with him. Also now that he has his own son in the NBA we could talk about how that is raising a future NBA player.

My next person is Zeb Powell a pro snowboarder. The reason I would chose him is the same reason as LeBron I’ve watched so many videos on YOUTUBE and on XGAMES. It would be so surreal to meet him. also maybe he could teach me some trick like a back side boardslide. another reason I would want to have dinner with him is because he has reinvented the sport of snowboarding and influenced the culture and style so much.

The last person I would want to have dinner with is Kobe Bryant. The reasons I would want to have dinner with him is because I look up to him the most in the game of basketball. Also due to his tragic helicopter crash it would be awsome to see this legend in real life.

If I was Invisible

If I was invisible for 24 hours the first thing I would do is drive over to the airport and sneak onto a flight headed to Japan. Then I would steak some sushi and ramen and head over to the resort and steal some clothes and take someone’s snowboard. Then I would have the time of my life snowboarding. Since this was the best season of snowfall of Japan for the past 10 years, it would be incredible. Because the flight was 15 hours and I just snowboarded for 6 hours, I for my last two hours I would just explore Japan. I would go to Tokyo and hop on some trains to see the sights of the beautiful country of Japan.

Rad Reading February

This month I read Restart by Gordon Korman. This story is about 13 year old Chase Ambrose who one day wakes up in a hospital and forgets everything due to the fact that he got a concussion from falling off of his roof. Before his concussion, he was a bully to people at his school.  Due to forgetting everything, he gets a fresh start on things and he starts being a good kid.  He neglects his old friends and starts being kind to ones he was once mean to.  He even joins the Video Club at school which is something he would never have done before his concussion.

Chase figures out he really likes making films. He gets a long well with more people. He likes his new life better, but his old friends want him to return to the way he once was. He keeps needing to make choices in the book about accepting the this new version of himself or going back to his old ways.  This is difficult for Chase.

I like this book and I recommend it because it’s a good read for everyone.  My favorite character was Chase because he overcame being a bully.  One character trait Chase has is being humble. He has to learn from people that he used to be a bad guy and that makes him feel bad. Hearing these stories from his past makes him feel sorry but this also helps him make the decision to being a good person going forward.

A quote I like is from when Chase is talking with the principal Dr. Fitzwallace in his office. “This is an awful thing that has happened to you, but it’s also presenting you with a rare opportunity.  You have the chance to rebuild yourself from the ground up, to make a completely fresh start.” I like this quote because sometimes I wish I could change the past and get a new start too.

Rad Reading January

The Tower Treasure by Franklin W. Dixon is the book I read this month. Frank and Joe Hardy want to be just like their dad who is an amazing detective. They end up getting to prove themselves on a case where someone got their red sports car stolen. I have finished this book and I think it was very good. I would recommend it because it is somewhat short and keeps you entertained because there are so many clues to who it might be. Frank hardy is my favorite character, he is adventurous. For example” The thrill of venturing into the unknown keeps a detective’s blood tingling.” (81). Lastly my favorite quote from The Tower Treasure is “There is no such thing as clever crook. If he was a clever crook, he wouldn’t be a crook at all. This is my favorite quote because it made me think very deeply about just one sentance.

Video Game in Real Life

If I could be in any video game in real life it would be Madden. Madden is a NFL game. One reason I would want to be in madden is because of the strategy. There is so much strategy to get your players open with hot routes and audibles. Hot routes are a way to change any of your players routes to get them open and audibles change the entire play. Next there are defensive schemes to defend the routes and audibles. As you could imagine it could get very complex having defensive schemes and offensive schemes, that’s my favorite part about Madden. Next there is jukes, hurdles, spin moves, and hit sticks this makes the game very realistic and so much fun to play. Lastly you can play ultimate team and make your favorite possible team with your favorite possible players. That’s why this is the game I would love to be in in real life.

Rad Reading – December

In The World After the Fall by SingNsong, Jaehwan has to climb up a mysterious tower that has monsters that get released and tear up the world. These towers summon people who must clear the levels of the tower to save humanity. As they progress along the journey, they find these challenges called regression stones. What they do is give you an option to go back in time to change something you did in the past. There is a group that refuse to abandon the present. Then Jaehwan ends up going into the past by himself. This uncovers so many secrets about the tower that nobody knew about. “Now I will defeat you!” This is when Jaehwhan fights the last monster in the last challenge. That leaves it on a cliffhanger, so you have to read the next in the series to find out what happens next. Jaehwhan is my favorite character because he is the best fighter in all of the walkers.

Lebron James

My hero is Lebron James. He is a Basketball player.  One reason that makes him my hero is that he is the oldest player in the NBA and is still the face of his team and is averaging twenty points per game eight assists per game seven rebounds a game and he is shooting an incredible 50.6 percentage from the field. Which means he makes more than half of the shots he takes. He even has his own kid in the NBA on his team currently and they even gotta play a game with  him before getting sent to the G League. The fact that he is able to play at this level at forty is absolutely incredible. My next reason is that he isn’t just a basketball player but he is also just a face that everyone knows around the world. The reason that so many people know him is that he is in Space Jam a new legacy, sprite cranberry commercials and ruffles commercials. He is also partnered with Nike having a shoe line stretching to over twenty shoes. This shoes that he doesn’t just play basketball he also is a business man. My third reason is that he has some of the most iconic plays and seasons for example in the 2016 he had an iconic three one comeback. Also there was an iconic play in that series where he blocked Andre Iguodala in crunch time and the Cavs ended up winning that game. These are my reasons why lebron is my hero.

My Word of the Year

My word intention for 2025 is focus. The reason I am choosing this word is that I want to focus on the little things and just focus more in general. I want to focus on the little things in sports because I might not be the biggest or strongest but I can hustle and be smart on the field or court. Also I want to focus in school to try and get no missing assignments and keep my grades up. And I want to get better at my hobbies like snowboarding and surfing. Focus will help me get a lot better. We have got to focus by staying heads up at all times. I will also focus to get to bed even earlier. When I do my homework I will practice staying focused so that I can move on to my sports, hobbies, or sleep.

New Kid

The book I have been reading over the month of November is New Kid. It was a book where the main character went to a new private school and had to deal with a lot of things that he didn’t at his public school. Jordan is the main character; he likes to draw and keep to himself.

A big challenge Jordan faced was he struggled to stay connected with his old friends but he also wanted to stay connected with his new friends. So he found a way to be connected with both because the do different activities. The new friends like movies and amusement parks and vacations. His old friends are cool gangsters.

At his school he deals with racism. To get by, he avoids those kids and finds others who also have to deal with it. Jordan talking to Drew about how they both deal with racism in this quote,” ‘See? Those are the things that bother me. Like whenever a class talks about slavery or civil rights.’ ‘Everyone stares at you right?’ ” (89) This shows that Jordan can have a friend that he relates to at his new, scary, big school.
